This application will compress regular files and folders dropped on it using the 7-zip compression format using the "ultra" setting. This is, as of this writing, the best general compression format known.
Drop7Zip has a few extra features however; it can also decompress/unencode the following formatted files if they are double clicked in the finder, or dropped onto it and have the appropriate filename extensions:
.rar - Decompress RAR files using the RarLabs' rar (http://rarlab.com/download.htm).
.ecm - Decompress ecm file using unecm (http://johnl.org/software/customcompiles.php)
.ace - Decompress ace file using unace (http://www.winace.com/)
.c00 - Decompress segmented ace file using unace (http://www.winace.com/)
.pax - Unpack pax file using OS X pax (http://www.mkssoftware.com/docs/man1/pax.1.asp)
.yenc - Unarchive yenc file using yydecode (http://yydecode.sourceforge.net/)
.ync - Unarchive yenc file using yydecode (http://yydecode.sourceforge.net/)
.y - Unarchive yenc file using yydecode (http://yydecode.sourceforge.net/)

Note: In this version, I still haven't added explicit support for the file extensions beginning with a #.
